Angel Visits
Luke 1:26-38 (NAPSV)
A messenger of God, was sent to a young woman. She had
wonderful plans for her future, which among other things included a man she cherished, of
sound character and upbringing. The young woman's name was
And having come in, the messenger said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored one, God is with you; blessed are you
among women!"
When she heard him, she was
confused and considered what he wanted of her. Then the messenger continued
by saying, "Do not be afraid,
for you have found favor with God. Behold,
you will have a new birth in your life, and the Son of God will blossom within you. Your
future is great, and you will name Jesus, the Son of God, as the Lord of your life. You
will give Him the throne of your life. And He will reign over your life forever, and of
His kingdom there will be no end."
wondered to herself, "How can this be, since I am such a sinful and self-centered woman?"
The messenger sensed her doubt and humility, and
said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of God will overwhelm
and transform you. This new life within you will transform you into an heir of God. Even
now, God is breathing new life throughout your family and loved ones. For with God,
nothing is impossible."
Then
said, "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." And the angel
departed from her.
Amazed that the messenger virtually
read her mind and knew her deepest concerns, fears and feelings,
said with trembling, "I want to be a servant of God. Let it happen as you have said."
