A Wedding Prayer!
Colossians 3:12-19; 23-24
12 And so,
and
as you two have been chosen for each other of God, holy and beloved,
each of you put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness,
patience with each other, sharing each other's burdens, forgiving the other as
Jesus has already forgiven each of you.
14 Above and beyond all of these, put on love, which is the perfect
super-glue of unity. And let the peace of Christ rule your hearts. You were
indeed called to be one body, so be grateful for each other and to each other.
16 Let the Word of God overflow within you, teaching and admonishing each
other with tact and wisdom. Sing gratefully the psalms, hymns and songs together
with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
17 And whatever
and
you do in your life together, do it in the
name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks through Him to the Father
18
be subject to your new husband
as is fitting to the Lord, knowing that since he is in submission to the Lord, he is the spiritual leader of this
new family.
19
love your new wife
and don't be embittered against her, for she is a willing vessel of the Lord's.
23 Again,
and
whatever you should do, do it will all your hearts, as if you were
doing it for the Lord, and not just for each other. Know that from the Lord you
will receive the reward of the inheritance. Jesus is in charge of this new
household the church is blessing with its approval today.
