 The Desert Experience

Matthew 4:1-11

The Holy Spirit led into a desert-like place to be tempted by the devil.

felt abandoned for what seemed like an eternity, and was desperate for help.

The devil came to saying, “If you are child of God, tell these rocks to become your favorite food so you can eat!“

answered, “The Bible says: ’A person doesn't live only by eating food, they also need experiences with God.’ “ (Deuteronomy 8:3)

So the devil tried something else and led to a peaceful, wonderful place and put on the top of a cliff and said, “If you are child of God jump because the Bible also says: ’He has put his angels in charge of you. They will catch you in their hands so that you will not hit your foot on a rock.’ “ (Psalm 91:11)

answered with, “The Bible also says: ’Do not test the Lord your God.’ “(Deuteronomy 6:16)

Being persistent, this time the devil took to the top of a very, very high mountain so that could see the whole world and everything enjoyable that this life has to offer. The devil said to “If you'll bow down and worship me, I will richly reward you and give you everything and anything you want.“

said to the devil, “Get lost Satan! The Bible says: ’ must worship the Lord God and serve only Him.’ “(Deuteronomy 13:4)

So the devil left and angels came and took care of ending the desert experience.
